How to put on your compression socks
A step-by-step routine that makes donning your socks quick and easy.
Step by step
- Put your socks on first thing in the morning, when swelling is lowest.
- Reach inside the sock and pinch the heel, then turn it inside-out down to the heel.
- Slip your foot in and position the heel correctly.
- Gradually roll and smooth the fabric up your leg — never yank the top band.
- Smooth out any wrinkles for even compression.
Helpful tips
- Rubber gloves improve grip and protect the fabric.
- A donning aid makes the job much easier if you have limited mobility.
- Apply moisturiser at night, not in the morning, so skin isn't slippery.
