What is compression therapy?

How graduated compression works and why it helps tired, aching and swollen legs.

The basics

Compression socks apply gentle, graduated pressure to your legs — firmest at the ankle and easing as they move up. This helps your veins and leg muscles move blood more efficiently back toward the heart.

Who benefits?

  • People who stand or sit for long periods at work
  • Anyone with tired, achy or swollen legs
  • Those with varicose veins or a history of venous disease
  • Frequent travellers

Compression levels

Level Pressure Typical use
Mild 15–20 mmHg Everyday support, travel
Medium 20–30 mmHg Swelling, varicose veins
Firm 30–40 mmHg Advanced venous conditions

Always get assessed so you receive the right level for your needs.
